About JSAM

The Japan Society of Acupuncture and Moxibustion (JSAM) is the nation’s single, and leading, academic organization for acupuncture and moxibustion that has corporate status (approved on April 1, 1980 by the then Ministry of Education, Science and Culture). The present membership is about 5,000 people (including student members), consisting of acupuncturists (officially known as “Harishi”) and moxibustionists (“Kyushi”) as well as physicians, dentists, medical researchers, and other people that have an interest in acupuncture and moxibustion medicine.
